Testosterone deficiency/male hypogonadism: The signs and symptoms of low testosterone in men include erectile dysfunction, decreased libido, mood disturbances such as depression, loss of muscle mass, osteoporosis, and increase in body fat. Many of these signs and symptoms were previously believed to be part of the normal aging process, however, recently treatment of low testosterone in men has been shown to provide long-term physical and mental improvement. Diagnosis is confirmed with a blood test for testosterone levels. The newest treatment involves testosterone pellets injected under the skin in an office setting. These injections only need to be performed every 4-6 months.
